SEDATION
DENTAL TREATMENT

What is conscious sedation?

The term “conscious sedation” was introduced by the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and refers to a medically controlled state of conscious sedation, which keeps the patient free of anxiety, tension and pain, while remaining conscious, breathing spontaneously and responsive to physical stimuli or commands.

The patient’s experience, even with long-term interventions, is that of a brief treatment, of which he or she has little memory.
